Faith and love which are gifts of the Holy Spirit are such great and powerful means that a person who has them can easily, and with joy and consolation, go the way Jesus Christ went. Besides this, the Holy Spirit gives man the power to resist the delusions of the world so that although he makes use of earthly good, yet he uses them as a temporary visitor, without attaching his heart to them. But a man who has not got the Holy Spirit, despite all his learning and prudence, is always more or less a slave and worshipper of the world.

St. Innocent of Alaska

Is there a dress code in the Orthodox Church, and if so, why?

I am wondering about the subject of "tithing" spoken about in the Old Testament. What is the Orthodox view on this? How much should we be giving to the Church?

Christ the Savior Orthodox Church is a growing Christian community of people from various ethnic and social backgrounds sharing a common commitment to the Lord, each other, and the Apostolic Faith. We warmly welcome all families, couples, and individuals who are looking for a deeper experience of the salvation offered in Jesus Christ. Come and see!

Baptisms of Wiley Demetrius and Oliver Keller - 04/22/18

On Sunday, April 22nd, we had the Baptisms of both Wiley Demetrius and Oliver, sons of Derek and Ashley Keller. We congratulate them as well as their sponsors, the entire family and their friends. May the Lord God grant them all health, strength, salvation, furtherance in every good thing and many blessed years!

Children's Egg Hunt - 04/15/18

On Thomas Sunday, April 15th, an egg hunt was held for the children of the parish. As we know, the egg is widely used as a symbol of the start of new life, just as new life emerges from an egg when the chick hatches out. However, there were of course no chicks in these eggs, just chocolate and candy - much to the delight of the children and the dread of their parents!

Holy Pascha - 04/08/18

On Sunday, April 8th, the faithful gathered for the Midnight service, celebrating the Feast of Feast, Holy Pascha, which commemorates the Resurrection of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ. More than 100 people gathered for the celebration of the liturgical services which were followed by the blessing of foods and a festive meal in the hall and rectory. We greet you all with the joyous exclamation, "Christ is risen! Indeed He is risen!"

Great and Holy Week - 04/07/18

From April 1 - April 7, the faithful gathered at Christ the Savior to celebrated the solemn liturgical services of Great and Holy Week, which commemorates the Lord's voluntary Passion, His Cross, Death and Burial.

Holy Unction - 04/04/18

On Great and Holy Wednesday, April 4th, the faithful gathered for the Mystery of Holy Unction, the anointing with holy oil for the healing of soul and body. The Church’s practice of Holy Unction dates back to Apostolic times, see James 5:14.

Palm Sunday - 04/01/18

On Palm Sunday, April 1st, the faithful gathered to celebrate the Lord's Entrance into Jerusalem. A procession around the church was made while the faithful bore in their hands palms in honor of the festive occassion. Following the beautiful divine services, a traditional Bakaliaro fish meal was offered for all present. Glory be to God for all things!
