Beguiling and deceptive is the life of the world, fruitless its labor, perilous its delight, poor its riches, delusive its honors, inconstant, insignificant; and woe to those who hope in its seeming goods: because of this many die without repentance. Blessed and most blessed are those who depart from the world and its desires.

1st Archpastoral Visit of Metropolitan Herman

Divine Liturgy / Festal Meal

On the weekend of July 7-8, 2007, His Beatitude Metropolitan Herman, the Archbishop of Washington and New York, visited Christ the Savior for the celebration of the liturgical services, a meeting with the Parish Council, and a festal meal with all the faithful parishioners and visitors.

The weekend began with Great Vespers on Saturday evening, after which His Beatitude shared light refreshments and discussion with the parishioners.  Then he met with Fr. John and the Parish Council, offering his guidance and blessings for their continued good work.

On Sunday, following the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Herman formally installed Fr. John Parsells as the Rector of the parish.  Then in celebration of this historic weekend, the faithful gathered at a local resort hotel for a festal brunch.

Many thanks to all who made this weekend such a success!  Glory to God!
