Every day you provide your bodies with good to keep them from failing. In the same way your good works should be the daily nourishment of your hearts. Your bodies are fed with food and your spirits with good works. You aren't to deny your soul, which is going to live forever, what you grant to your body, which is going to die.

St. Gregory the Great

Do we forgive our neighbors their trespasses? God also forgives us in His mercy. Do we refuse to forgive? God, too, will refuse to forgive us. As we treat our neighbors, so also does God treat us. The forgiveness, then, of your sins or unforgiveness, and hence also your salvation or destruction, depend on you yourself, man. For without forgiveness of sins there is no salvation. You can see for yourself how terrible it is.

Memorial Day Pilgrimage

Monday, May 26, 2008

On Monday, May 26th, a small contingent from the Mission made its way to St. Tikhon's Orthodox Monastery in South Canaan, Pennsylvania, for the annual Memorial Day Pilgrimage.

Following the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and Memorial Service, we were able to venerate the miraculous Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God and the relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov. After a picnic style lunch we toured the museum dedicated to Orthodoxy in America and visited the seminary bookstore before heading home to Delmarva.

Glory be to God for a safe and enjoyable pilgrimage to St. Tikhon's Monastery!
