10th Anniversary Celebration

December 6, 2010
St. Nicholas the Wonderworker
Dear in Christ,St. Nicholas the Wonderworker
It is my esteemed pleasure to write to you in this holy season on behalf of Christ the Savior Mission, extending to you both our festive greetings as well as our cordial invitation to join us on the weekend of January 1-2, 2011, as we celebrate 10 years of the Lord’s providential care, guidance, and blessings.
It is hard to believe that a decade has already passed since March 5, 2000, when Protopresbyter Daniel Hubiak, the Mission’s founding priest, proclaimed during the first Divine Liturgy those resounding words: “Blessed is the Kingdom of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit!” By the grace of God, this magnificent exclamation still echoes even now in the ears and hearts of the faithful who have come to make Christ the Savior their spiritual home in Delmarva; may this cry continue to resound both “now and forever, and unto the ages of ages! Amen.”
As we celebrate this 10th Anniversary, we ask that you join us in offering thanksgiving to God and humble gratitude to those who through their dedicated labors, sacrificial offerings, and steadfastness in prayer, have supported the Orthodox Church in America’s Mission to Delmarva.
We are especially pleased that this historic weekend will be led by our archpastor, His Beatitude Metropolitan Jonah, who will preside at the Divine Services, meet informally with all those present, and conclude the weekend with us by sharing a festive meal.
The schedule is as follows:
- The Great Vespers service on Saturday, January 1st, at 6:00pm; followed by refreshments and spiritual discussion with His Beatitude.
- The Divine Liturgy on Sunday, January 2nd, at 9:00am; the Hours begin at 8:40am.
- A Festal Luncheon following the Divine Liturgy. All are invited!
- Signing the luncheon attendance sheet at the church.
- Calling or emailing Fr. John at 302-537-6055 or frjohn@orthodoxdelmarva.org.

Sunday of Orthodoxy - 03/09/25
On March 9, 2025, we celebrated the Sunday of Orthodoxy with a procession of icons to the Archway at our roadside entrance during the Divine Liturgy. There we had a reading of the ancient Synodicon, the affirmation of the Orthodox Faith that our salvation is proclaimed in both words and images, and the faithful recited the Nicene Creed. We congratulate all who celebrate on this day!
