Special Parish Meeting: Building Update
On Sunday, November 2, 2025, Christ the Savior Orthodox Church held a Special Parish Meeting following the Divine Liturgy. The gathering featured a presentation by the Long-Term Planning Committee (LTPC), chaired by Tom Mathews, providing a comprehensive update on the parish’s ongoing new temple project.
Fr. John opened the meeting by expressing gratitude to the LTPC members for their dedicated work. The presentation reviewed key milestones in the parish’s growth from its founding in 2000 to the present, noting that average Sunday attendance has risen from 38 to 130, with many young families contributing to a vibrant and growing community.
Architectural plans prepared by CJK Design envision a traditional Orthodox temple with a dome, apse, and cross-shaped layout, approximately 4,000 square feet in size compared to the current chapel’s 1,600. The site plan also includes expanded parking and a covered walkway connecting the new temple to the parish hall.
Fundraising progress was highlighted, with over $220,000 raised to date, supported by two major matching gifts and the establishment of a brokerage account to manage building fund assets. Parishioners were encouraged to participate through pledges, stock donations, and planned gifts.
The meeting also featured remarks from Protodeacon Gregory Moser, who shared insights from St. Mark’s Church in Wrightstown, Pennsylvania, and from several parishioners reflecting on similar building projects elsewhere. Common themes included the importance of faith, communication, and community teamwork.
The meeting concluded with a sense of shared purpose and encouragement as parishioners united in their vision to build a new temple, trusting in God's providence and giving thanks for His blessings upon the growing parish family.
