On Sunday, Feburary 8, 2026, we asked the Lord to bestow a blessing upon Taylor, Elisha, Arcadia, and Sybil Applegarth as they continue the ministry of candle-making for Christ the Savior. Using the traditional dipping method, they craft new candles from the remnants of those previously offered in worship, carefully layering wax until the desired diameter is reached. This invaluable ministry not only reduces the church’s need to purchase new candles but also ensures that every remnant of these sacred offerings is reverently repurposed. May the Lord abundantly bless the Applegarth family for their dedication, skill, and devotion to this holy work!
O Lord Jesus Christ, the True Light that enlightens every man that cometh into the world: Do Thou pour out Thy blessing upon these Thy servants who labor in the making of candles, and sanctify their hands and their work with the light of Thy grace. And be pleased, O Merciful One, that as these candles, kindled with visible fire, give light to Thy holy temple and to the homes of the faithful, so may the souls of these, Thy servants, be kindled with the invisible fire of Thy love and illumined by the brightness of the Holy Spirit.
Grant that, by the labor of their hands, they may offer a pure and pleasing gift unto Thee, and that, through their work, the darkness of sin may be driven away, and the light of faith may shine more brightly in the hearts of the faithful. And having triumphed over the vanity of this world, may they be counted worthy to attain unto the everlasting Light of Thy heavenly kingdom.
For Thou art our Illumination and our Salvation, and unto Thee do we send up glory, together with Thine unoriginate Father and Thy Most-holy, Good, and Lifegiving Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

You are invited to join Christ the Savior Orthodox Church for a group outing to see The Story of Everything on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 6:30 PM at Regal Salisbury. In a world that often sees the universe as random and without meaning, this film invites us to behold creation with wonder and reverence. From the vastness of the galaxies to the hidden complexity within a single cell, we are reminded that “the heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1). What we encounter is not chaos, but order… not accident, but beauty… not silence, but a quiet testimony to the Logos who sustains all things. This is more than a film about science. It is an invitation to see the world as a gift, to rediscover awe, and to deepen our gratitude to God, the Creator of all. Come experience this inspiring and thought-provoking film together as a parish!
