First Services at Vines Creek - 12/30/07

On the weekend of December 29-30, 2007, Christ the Savior Mission celebrated its first services at its new home at Vines Creek (Dagsboro, Delaware). On Saturday evening before Vespers the church was blessed and then on Sunday morning the first Divine Liturgy was celebrated.

The new home of the Mission was chosen at the Special Parish Meeting of November 4, 2007 because it was more centrally located between the northern and southern beaches, closer to parishioners' homes and provided enough room to accommodate the Mission's growing congregation which has steadily risen since the founding of the Church in 2000.

Since the time of the Special Parish Meeting parishioners and friends have labored tirelessly to prepare the new facility, and with God's help we were able to meet our movein deadline of January 1st!

We thank the Lord for His continued blessings upon the Orthodox Church in America's Mission to Delmarva. May He continue to guide us in all things!

Holy Dormition - 08/15/19

On Thursday, August 15th, the faithful gathered to celebrate the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, which is the annual festal commemoration the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of the Virgin Mary, the Birthgiver of God. We were pleased to welcome a number of visitors including Protodeacon Gregory Moser, who coserved with Fr. John. After the Divine Services about 40 people went to the local Chick-Fil-A to continue to the celebration and fellowship. Glory to God for a beautiful feastday!

What is the Orthodox Church?

“The Orthodox Christian Church is evangelical, but not Protestant.
It is orthodox, but not Jewish. It is catholic, but not Roman.
It is not denominational, it is pre-denominational.
It has believed, taught, preserved, defended, and died for the
Faith of the Apostles since the Day of Pentecost nearly 2,000 years ago.”
