Capacity Limits Lifted by State of Maryland

On Friday, March 12, 2021, capacity limits on churches were lifted by Governor Hogan's executive order (21-03-09-01). Effective on this date, Christ the Savior is now open at 100% capacity. There is no longer a need to register to attend worship services. Risk mitigation policies remain in effect until further notice, and we have a reserved area for worship for those who might be considered high risk. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to the church.

Notes

  1. Registration is no longer required for church attendance.
  2. Occupancy in the chapel has returned to 100%, however, masks will continue to be required until further notice.
  3. Attendance in the hall is now a maximum of 15 people, so that those who are at a higher risk might be able to more strictly follow 6-foot social distancing recommendations.
  4. All other risk mitigation policies remain unchanged at present.

Blessing of Chariots - 07/24/22

On Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the end of the Divine Liturgy, we had the annual Blessing of Chariots (cars, trucks, bikes, etc).  It is a custom of Orthodox Christians to have their cars blessed both when newly acquired and on or near the feast of the Prophet Elias (July 20th), as he ascended as if into heaven on a fiery chariot. We thank God for a truly blessed day!

What is the Orthodox Church?

“The Orthodox Christian Church is evangelical, but not Protestant.
It is orthodox, but not Jewish. It is catholic, but not Roman.
It is not denominational, it is pre-denominational.
It has believed, taught, preserved, defended, and died for the
Faith of the Apostles since the Day of Pentecost nearly 2,000 years ago.”
