Metropolitan Tikhon Blesses Mosaic Installation
On March 5, 2023 His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon celebrated the Sunday of Orthodoxy at Christ the Savior, where he blessed the newly fashioned and installed mosaics at the parish entrance.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Mirona Bendfeldt was presented a gramota in recognition of her leading a team of parishioners, including Mat. Emily Parsells and Rachael Howard, in the design and fashioning of the mosaics which adorn the side walls of the archway and the front of the parish center. These 12 Christian symbols include the Chi-Rho, the Alpha & Omega, the Cross, the Church, Noah's Ark, the Fish, a Chalice, a Seraphim, the Ten Commandments, the Holy Scriptures, a Baptismal Font, and an Anchor.
Following the Divine Liturgy, there was a festal procession from the chapel to the archway for the blessing, with parishioners carrying icons, commemorating the Triumph of Orthodoxy and the restoration of the holy images to the churches in 843 AD after a period of persecution and iconoclasm.
The mosaics, dedicated to the memory of our founding priest, Protopresbyter Daniel Hubiak, and featuring the Icon of Christ Not-Made-By-Hands fashioned by St. Elizabeth's Convent in Minsk, Belarus, will serve to call all who gaze upon them to come to Christ the Savior where they can enter the Kingdom of God present here in Berlin, Maryland.
We thank His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, Mirona Bendfeldt, Rachael Howard, Mat. Emily Parsells, St. Elizabeth's Convent, and all those who made this initiative possible, and we give glory to God for all things!

On March 9, 2025, we celebrated the Sunday of Orthodoxy with a procession of icons to the Archway at our roadside entrance during the Divine Liturgy. There we had a reading of the ancient Synodicon, the affirmation of the Orthodox Faith that our salvation is proclaimed in both words and images, and the faithful recited the Nicene Creed. We congratulate all who celebrate on this day!
